~Art for Each and All

This artistic memorial, β€œThe Hearts Project,” aims to recover what we have forgotten about the COVID pandemic. As such, it intervenes when public and private distractions disrupt our ability to recall our experiences of the pandemic. And when we forget the pandemic, we lose a vital part of our history.

The Hearts Project is visual artistry made to house memories. It is work motivated by a request for you to pause, reflect, and remember our shared, multi-layered experience of life during the pandemic.

What you will find is that The Hearts Project is comprised of individual, hand-cut paper hearts, one for each of the 13,068 Arkansans who lost their lives to COVID during 2020-2023. Reaching beyond this, we use our artistic medium to revive stories of groups of people whose experiences and voices have disappeared as our collective memory fades.
